The well-lit Middle Eastern cities along the Persian Gulf coast of the Arabian Peninsula to the north of Iran were photographed from the International Space Station during an orbital night pass.

This beautiful, natural-colour image from Sentinel-2A on 18 September 2015 features the small nation of Bahrain and parts of eastern Saudi Arabia.

Dust Storm Over the Persian Gulf

Driving dust blanketed the Persian Gulf in late May, 2013. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) flying aboard NASA's Aqua satellite captured this true-color image of the event on May 16 as it flew over the region.
