The global space economy grew to $304.31 billion in commercial revenue and government budgets in 2012, reflecting growth of 6.7 percent from the 2011 total of $285.33 billion. Commercial activity -- space products and services and commercial infrastructure -- drove much of this increase. From 2007 through 2012, the total has grown by 37 percent.

Paragon Space Development Corporation(R) is now a Space Foundation Space Certification Program Partner and has been authorized to carry the Certified Space TechnologyTM seal. It is being recognized for its Modular Air Revitalization System (MARS).

The Space Foundation is now seeking nominations for induction into the prestigious Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2013. The program honors innovations by organizations and individuals who transform space technology into commercial products that improve life on Earth.

A Conversation with Wayne Hale

SpaceRef had the opportunity to sit down with Wayne Hale at the 28th National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Mr. Hale is a former NASA space shuttle mission controller, flight director, space shuttle program manager, Deputy Associate Administrator for Strategic Partnerships and currently the Director of Human Spaceflight / International Programs with Special Aerospace Services. Wayne share his thoughts on the current status of the space program, the future and his current work.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden and Deputy Administrator Lori Garver will provide remarks next week at the 28th Annual National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo. The event will be held at The Broadmoor Hotel, located at 1 Lake Ave. in Colorado Springs.
