NuSTAR Telescope in Space

NASA's newest X-ray telescope will have a lengthy structure that unfolds in space, allowing it to see high-energy objects like feeding black holes.

IRIS Mission and Science Briefings

Solar Splashdown

On June 7, 2011, our Sun erupted, blasting tons of hot plasma into space. Some of that plasma splashed back down onto the Sun's surface, sparking bright flashes of ultraviolet light. This dramatic event may provide new insights into how young stars grow by sucking up nearby gas.

Europe's ATV Albert Einstein ESA's automated support and supply ferry for the International Space Station was launched by an Ariane 5 launcher on 6 June 2013. After travelling over 6 million kms over the course of ten days it caught up with the International Space Station on 15 June and docked with the orbital outpost only 11 mm of absolute centre.

Morpheus Tether Test 24

This is the 24th tether test of the Morpheus Vehicle. This test was performed with the "Bravo" version of the vehicle and tested some of the new backup systems. There are two firings in this test, the first firing was soft aborted. This was caused by an imbalance in the fuel load which caused the vehicle to exceed it's tight safety zone. The 2nd firing was a complete success.

The European Space Agency's "Albert Einstein" Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) arrived at the International Space Station June 15, automatically docking to the aft port of the Zvezda Service Module to complete a ten-day journey following its launch June 5 on an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou, French Guiana.
